My first quilt

Here are the pictures of my first quilt. I had a blast making it, so I will start my second one tonight.  It is for Ashley's teacher, she is pregnant with her first child.

Today there are no pictures to post, just a quick update on everyone's business.  So we will start with the big guy.  Rusty starts the long process of separating/retiring from the Army.  Next week is his official first briefing to start the year long process.  The garden is keeping his mind off most of the professional stuff.  The harvest season has just begun and I am already tired of making strawberry jam.  I enjoy the fresh fruits and vegetables but after a day of running the kids everywhere it is a little much.  The girls have been spoiled with the fresh spinach, arugula and lettuce.  We went out to dinner and Ashley had lettuce on her cheeseburger and she complained because she could not taste the lettuce.  Those girls do not know how lucky they are. 

That brings us to Ashley.  She is 18 days away from completing her 1st grade year in school and is amazing.  She is reading phenomenally.  She takes after her big sister Kimmer.  Everytime I turn around she has a book in her hand and I love it!  Still taking guitar lessons and she has picked up the basics very well but I think she needs a break for the summer.  It is difficult for her to sit through lessons on a gorgeous day and focus.  Maybe a break for the summer and we will get back at it in the fall. 

Alison on the other hand is a very focused and patient child.  She is begging me for ballet lessons; but they are all in the middle of sessions.  But it is on the mommy to do list to enroll her in a class.  May 30th Alison will graduate preschool and head to big girl elementary school next year.  She is all excited that her and Ashley will be going to the same school.  I am pretty excited as well; but scared to death that I will have no more little ones running around under my feet. 

More to come with the big kids........they are just so busy with grown up life.

Garden Harvest

Please be patient with me and the blog posts.  Since the garden is beginning to harvest already.  Our technology time in the house is dwindling down considerably.  We absolutely love the spring and summer.  Honestly there are not many season we do not enjoy.  Our first harvest of strawberries were this weekend, so of course the first batch of jam was processed today.

 No post is complete without some random pictures of the chickens.

I saved the most important for last.  We had a friend visit this weekend from Kansas.  He is here in Washington D.C. on official business, so we thought we would show him around town before he has to go and work all week with the government folk.  We miss you Uncle Tony and Aunt Kim.
